Indonesia wants more investors to pump cash into its electronics sector and promises to quickly develop the necessary infrastructure and minimise hurdles for them.
Budi Darmadi, Director General for Transportation Equipment Industry and Telematics, said that the Indonesian government will continue to promote this industry and hopes that market players will build research and development facilities in the country.
This would enable them to be closer to the domestic market and thus increase the sector’s competitive edge.
He expects the electronics sector to grow by 9-10 per cent yearly until 2014 and create around 150,000 new jobs. There are about 230 electronics companies in the Southeast Asian country currently.
