The number of new and renewed licenses issued by the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEED) went up by 3.8 per cent and 10.2 per cent last year to hit 4,428 and 45,048, respectively.
According to the figures released by SEED, the number of professional licenses went up the most, rising 49.3 per cent, followed by licenses for the commercial sector (up 48.9 per cent) and the industrial sector (up 1.8 per cent).
His Excellency Ali bin Salem Al Mahmoud, Director General of SEED, said that the relative classification of licenses “reflected Sharjah’s ability to cater to the needs of the economic sectors in the emirate and the completeness of the professional work in Sharjah”.
Sharjah City accounted for 83.9 per cent of all licenses issued and July and October showed the biggest increases throughout the year.
